Sharing the important work of the Archdiocese of Toronto with the Catholic community, media and other important partners by living our faith through effective communication.
Key areas include:
Internal Communications – Providing clear, concise communication from the Archdiocese to its employees. This includes those within the Catholic Pastoral Centre, satellite offices of the Curia and our parishes and missions serving the Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Toronto.
External Communications – Responding in a timely manner to inquiries from the general public and Catholic stakeholders and providing online resources and information through our website. This may include redirecting inquiries to appropriate departments for further assistance, clarifying the position of the Catholic Church and responding to general inquiries of the Archdiocese.
Media Relations – Proactively nurturing relationships with the media and keeping them informed of important Archdiocesan activities. Also responding to inquiries initiated by local, national and international media.
Resources – Providing a "tool box" of resources for both internal and external partners that will help educate, inform and inspire. These may include websites (www.archtoronto.org), audio/visual resources, fact sheets, brochures, newsletters and staff expertise. Our internal graphic/web designers also offer creative design on more than 200 departmental projects each year. We also oversee the archdiocesan social media presence through tools like Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube and the "Around the Arch" blog, etc.
Partnerships – Working with Catholic and like-minded organizations to identify proactive communication opportunities and links with the Catholic community and other stakeholders. Sharing resources, cross promotion and ongoing support where applicable (e.g. Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, The Catholic Register, Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario, Salt & Light Television).
