Faith as a Pathway from Division to Unity

Contest Overview:

We invite students in grades 9-12 to participate in the 2025 Youth Interfaith Video Contest. This year's theme, "Faith as a Pathway from Division to Unity," encourages participants to explore how faith can be a unifying force in our divided world.

In a time of increasing division and conflict, the contest asks students to reflect on how love, compassion, and interfaith dialogue can help bridge divides, build understanding, and foster unity. Participants are invited to create videos that demonstrate the transformative power of faith and collaboration, showing how, by coming together with respect and empathy, we can overcome the challenges we face and work toward a more peaceful and harmonious future.

Key Dates:

  • Submission Period: February 5 - April 15, 2025 (by 3:00 p.m.)

Prizes:

  • 1st Prize: $650 CAD
  • 2nd Prize: $350 CAD
  • 3rd Prize: $200 CAD

Cash prizes sponsored by the Dominican Friars of Toronto.

Contest Rules:

Eligibility:

  • Open to students in grades 9-12.
  • Each participating school may submit up to three entries.

Video Submission Requirements:

  • Theme: The video must focus on the theme "Faith as a Pathway from Division to Unity"
  • Content Guidelines:
    • Must not violate accepted standards of behaviour or include threatening, profane, or harassing language.
    • No political statements or hate speech.
  • Video Length:  3:00 minutes.
  • Authenticity: The content must be original, and the video must be endorsed by the School Principal or Chaplain with a letter of certification.
  • School Identification: The name of the school and school board must appear on the title screen.
  • Submission: Videos must be uploaded to YouTube and the link, along with the letter of certification, must be submitted through the contest website.

How to Enter:

  1. Create a YouTube Account (if you don’t already have one).
  2. Upload your video to YouTube. Make sure to set the video as 'unlisted' under Privacy Settings, so that your video isn't made public. Only those with the link will be able to view the video.
  3. Submit the video link along with a letter of certification from your school, to: https://form.jotform.com/243126159182051

Tips

Get creative! Include various faith groups in your videos, use non-traditional forms of storytelling, collaborate with your peers. Great stories come in many different forms, like animation, or documentary—the opportunities are endless!

Judging and Selection:

All entries will be reviewed by a panel of media professionals and judged based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and overall impact. Winners will be announced after the judging process.
