On September 7, 2024, the Most Reverend Francis Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto traveled to Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Scarborough, Ont. to join their 50th anniversary celebrations.

Archbishop Leo celebrated Mass which was followed by a jubilee reception in the parish hall.

Epiphany of Our Lord Parish was established in September 1974 under the leadership of Archbishop Pocock who appointed Fr. Matthew Robbertz as the founding pastor.

The community was largely of Italian descent with the parish welcoming those involved at the mission that was held at St. Gerald’s school. An Italian-speaking priest, Fr. Attilio Durant was then assigned as associate pastor.

As the population of the community grew, new schools were added within parish boundaries, and by 1978 a proposal for constructing the church building was approved. The new church building opened its doors for the first time in the Spring of 1980, in time for the Easter Triduum, and an official blessing and grand-opening was held in 1982. A few years later, in 1984 the parish hall was opened.
