Session I: Our First Love: Start with Jesus

Julianne Stanz

Jesus took ordinary people, people the world at the time often saw as being dispensable and unimportant, and turned them into the greatest saints the world has ever known. He transformed simple fishermen and traders into men and women who utterly altered the society in which they lived. In our ministries, we too have the opportunity to positively impact others with the joy of the Gospel. How can we “start with Jesus” - what he did and what he asked us to do?

Friday, October 21, 2022 (Virtual)

Opening Remarks and Mid-Afternoon Prayer

Session II: The Kerygma: The Great Story
Julianne Stanz

Pope Francis reminds us that without the proclamation of the kerygma that all our evangelization and discipleship efforts will not bear fruit. It is the kerygma that awakens us to new life in Jesus Christ. But what is the kerygma? How does it transform people from being consumers of faith to being active disciples who engage in mission? During this workshop, participants will experience the kerygma through Scripture, reflection, music and imagery and leave with practical materials regarding how to apply kerygmatic principles in their life and in their ministry.

Session III: Living in H.O.P.E. - Healing, Openness, Prayer and the Eucharist
Julianne Stanz

We have a reason to hope as St. Pope John Paul II reminds us. “Humanity is able to hope. Indeed it must hope: the living and personal Gospel, Jesus Christ himself, is the ‘good news’ and the bearer of joy that the Church announces each day, and to whom the Church bears testimony before all people” (Christifideles laici, 7). Hope is not wishful thinking but a certainty that comes with living a life of faith. Living in hope means that we can give a name to our hope - Jesus Christ who offers us comfort and strength. With joy, humor and practical insights, Julianne will help you to set forth a vision for reaching all people and share practical ways by which we can become a community of missionary disciples who live in H.O.P.E.

From all eternity, God has chosen you to serve in your parish community as a missionary disciple during this critical time in our Church. How do we respond to this profound call? Join us for this very special in-person conversation with our bishops as they draw upon their experiences gained serving throughout the Archdiocese of Toronto. We look forward to seeing you there. Session IV: Sending Forth Into the Deep Waters of Mission

Julianne Stanz

Much fire will die out or a circuit will short when it has reached maximum overload; we as a Church have reached what Pope Francis calls “a diagnostic overload” (Evangelii Gaudium, #50). This overload, caused by a flurry of activity coupled with dwindling personnel and financial resources can smother the fire of parish life. How do we move from a more administrative model of ministry to an evangelical missionary model? This workshop will call us into the deep waters of mission where the catch lies waiting for us.
